Yesterday’s storm brought nearly two feet of snow and driving winds to our part of Northern Maine. School was cancelled for Silas, so the two littles and I holed up here at home and weathered the storm. A slow cooker full of split pea soup and fresh bread in the oven spread the scent of comfort through the house.

We emerged this morning into bright sunlight and a winter wonderland world.

Mailboxes must be at least 41 inches off the ground.

After some good outdoor time this afternoon, we remembered one of the best ways to spend time on winter afternoons.
